Duane Clark

Duane Clark is an international director, screenwriter, and producer.  He has directed over 100 hours of television, becoming regarded as an “actor’s director” with a strong visual storytelling style.  A resident of the UK from 2005-2014 and holding dual American/Canadian citizenship, Duane has shot all over the US, Canada, Great Britain, Europe and South Africa.

After graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from UCLA’s prestigious film program, Duane parlayed an early career writing spec features optioned by the likes of Warner Brothers and Universal into directing independent film.  His independent features “Shaking The Tree” and “SOULmates” won numerous Audience Favorite and Jury Awards at film festivals in the US and Europe.

Segueing to television directing in 1995, Duane was able to take his indie film experience into the world of one hour dramatic series, helming episodes that combine his compelling visual style with performance-based emotional punch. Through his expertise in working with actors, collaborating with crews and working within budgets, Duane has shot multiple episodes for many leading show runners including David E. Kelley, James Cameron, Chris Brancato, Greg Walker, Ronald D. Moore, Glenn Gordon Caron, Steven Bochco, Tom Fontana, Carol Barbee, Carol Mendelsohn, Ann Donahue, Trey Callaway, Matt Nix, Pam Veasey, Jeff Eastin,and Peter Lenkov.

Over the years Duane has had the opportunity to direct a wide range of actors such as  Tom Hardy, Dennis Quaid, Michael Chiklis, Felicity Jones, Academy Award winner Patricia Arquette, Ray Winstone, Emmy Award winner Toni Collette, William Petersen, Jason O’Mara, Scott Caan, Emmy Award nominee Alfre Woodard, Stephen Dorff, Val Kilmer, Dylan McDermott, Emmy Award nominee Taylor Schilling, Tate Donavan, Gary Sinese, Academy Award winner Marlee Matlin, David Caruso, David Morrissey, Paula Patton, Billy Campbell, Sean “P Diddy” Combs, Justin Kirk, Sean Bean, Sam Neill, Jason Segel, Bruce Davison, Randy Quaid, James Purefoy, Peter Fonda, Neve Campbell, Jesse L. Martin, Simon Baker, Jessica Alba, Jim Belushi, Robert Forster, Dabney Coleman, Scott Cohen, and Ben Gazzara.

Duane’s  directorial resumé is equally wide-ranging.  He has produced and directed episodes of television’s most riveting series, having contributed extensively to all three of the CSI franchises (CSI, CSI:Miami, CSI:NY).  He has built tension on beaches (Hawaii 5-0), and hospitals (Mercy, Three Rivers).  He has created the realities of 1000BC Israel (Of Kings & Prophets), the 17th century England (Crusoe – pilot) and 1950s Las Vegas (Vegas).  Duane has directed edgy dramas (Showtime’s Meadowlands – pilot+eps), political thrillers (NBC/Canal Plus’ XIII miniseries), and sci-fi (SyFy’s Helix).
